Movement in Connection
Movement in Connection is a way to elongate posture as well as develop tender, present, flowing and graceful movement.
"During the session, and during the shoulder exercises, I could gently feel that tension and tightness in my entire body, as I moved my arms and shoulders very slowly. The more slowly I moved and the more subtly I tuned in to my body, the word 'deliciousness' kept coming into my mind. Consciously I had no idea where this word came from but it was persistent. I decided to just let the word be there in my 'inner ears' and simply focus on softening even more into the exercise. The more I released the tension and tightness by the movement of my arms and shoulders, and the gentle breathing, the more 'delicious' the movement became. It was almost as if my inner body physiology, especially around the shoulders and arms, was becoming more fluid, and this in turn made the movements by my arms easier to do. As a result the rest of my body relaxed, allowing what felt like a gently supportive 'inner physical body' space for my arms and shoulders to do the actual work of moving. I felt my mind also relax, seemingly as a result of the physical body movements becoming easier." |
Movement in Connection is performed seated in a chair, from standing and on a mat. It uses simple, subtle, repetitive movement, usually focused around one or two joints at any one time so that sensitivity builds as to how the connective tissue moves around muscles and bones.
Participants soon become aware of spaciousness in body parts as they feel body tissue sliding and gliding around each other and the freeing up of tension or restriction in movement. As the session progressively moves around the body, an overall feeling of well-being deepens and expands, building a sense of lightness and joy - a quality that can be lived, even during the busiest of days. In private and group sessions you will gain a practical understanding how to:
Movement in Connection can develop a foundation you can take into any fitness, strength or flexibility program as you will learn how to exercise with the care and attention of your body that makes exercise consistently enjoyable and safe and, therefore, a long lasting, beneficial part of your life. |
